Update to Safe Snack Guide: July 11, 2013

-

We’ve added a number of new products and have confirmed the manufacturing processes of a number of existing products via our Manufacturers’ Product Portal which is currently in beta test. (For more information about the Portal and our Manufacturer Partnership Initiative, click here.)

New Product Category: Flours/Mixes/Crumbs

We are introducing this new category with products new to the Guide from two manufacturers:

  • Southern Homestyle Gluten Free Corn Crumbs – From the SoyNut Butter Company, the manufacturer of the I.M. Healthy brand product line, these crumbs work exactly like bread crumbs, but without gluten. They can be used as a coating, a stuffing or a sprinkle on prepared foods.

    We have also verified manufacture of the I.M. Healthy line of peanut butter alternatives and granolas via their participation in our partnership initiative.

  • Allergic Solution Cake Mixes, Yeast Free Bread Mix and Pancake/Waffle Mix – A new contributor to the Safe Snack Guide, Allergic Solution manufactures baking mixes free of the top 10 most common food allergens. Bean flour based so they are also higher in protein and fiber, they use ingredients that do not promote inflammation and leave the sugar/sweetener up to you so you can do whatever fits your taste or dietary needs.

New and Verified Products

We are introducing new products and have verified existing products from the following manufacturers:

  • Sweet Alexis Bakery – This bakery creates cookies, cakes and cupcakes that are peanut, tree nut, egg and dairy free as well as vegan. They also ship multi-packs of individually wrapped products, perfect for school parties and gatherings;
  • Amanda’s Own Confections – provides chocolates, confections and other treats that are free of the top 8 food allergens. Aside from their everyday products, they produce many novelty confections perfect for holiday celebrations and special occasions.

New Designation

We have introduced a new Safe Snack Guide designation to identify products that have been submitted via the Manufacturers’ Product Portal. These products will be listed in boldface to indicate that their manufacturers have confirmed details of their manufacture including the opportunity for cross-contamination.
