Ellie Brellis booked a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Boston this Monday to attend a doctor’s appointment. She was booted from the flight after telling the staff she had food allergies.
In two TikTok videos that have gone viral with over 450,000 views, Ellie tearfully shared her humiliating ordeal.
In the first video, she recounted the nightmare:
I am currently at LAX, and that is the plane I was sitting on to go home so I could go and see my doctor tomorrow morning because I have really, really serious health issues right now. I did all the things you’re supposed to do to advocate for myself so I could have a safe flight.
After recently experiencing a bout with anaphylaxis, a life-threatening reaction, Ellie explained:
I felt really embarrassed, and I was just trying to make sure that didn’t happen today. And somehow, I just got kicked off the plane for having an allergy.
I was just trying to explain the situation to someone, and they cut me off. I don’t want to be this person, I don’t want to be crying, I just want to be on the flight home so I can see my doctor and figure out why this is happening.

In the second video, she explained:
So, just to be clear, I was literally on the plane, and they escorted me off. They are putting me on the red-eye, but it’s a full flight, so they’re putting me in an aisle seat, but they can’t guarantee my safety.
They have to call Medaire, and I have to talk to a doctor, and he has to determine whether I’m fit to fly.
The Medaire service she refers to handles thousands of calls annually to help crew and passengers manage medical and travel safety events in the air and on the ground.

Last month, we reported that Crystal Shelton and her child had filed a complaint against Allegiant Air, after being booted from a July 7 flight from Chattanooga to Tampa.
We’re sick of airlines treating travelers with food allergies like chattel. They are people deserving accommodation under the provisions of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
We call on Delta and other airlines to halt this abhorrent behavior and begin treating members of the food allergy community with the dignity and respect they deserve.
We urge Ms Brellis to seek legal representation and demand compensation for her ordeal.
