Update to Safe Snack Guide: September 14, 2017

-

We’re pleased to announce the latest update to the Safe Snack Guide and our Allergence product screening service.
The Safe Snack Guide is a catalog of over 1000 foods, all free of peanuts and tree nuts with hundreds free of the Top 8 allergens. The Guide is used by thousands of schools and tens of thousands of parents nationwide to help keep allergens out of the classroom and the home.
Allergence is our interactive service that shows you precisely how these products are manufactured with respect to the 11 allergens we track: the Top 8 (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, fish, crustacean shellfish) as well assesame, mustardandgluten. All allergen information is provided directly by our partner manufacturers, neverfrom the label.
Aside from a number of new product additions from our existing partners, weve introduced products from two new members of our Manufacturer Partnership. Please welcome:

  • Daelmans – Bakers of crunchy Dutch stroopwafels with deliciously creamy and buttery caramel syrup fillings. They only use non-GMO ingredients stroopwafels and sustainability is central to their business. They never use artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives in their products.
  • The Lancaster Food Company – A second-chance employer dedicated to making clean and healthful food, hiring people with barriers to employment, and sourcing from organic farmers as close to home as possible. They bake delicious USDA Certified Organic sandwich breads and rolls.

With this issue we also say goodbye to Lucy’s and Brothers International which are leaving our Manufacturer Partnership. Though we do not have safety concerns regarding their products, the data we have on file for them has aged beyond our guidelines and as such they have been removed from our publications. We hope the respective manufacturers rejoin us once they return to full compliance with the strict reporting terms of our partnership.

Once again, we thank our readers and subscribers for their diligence and feedback which helps us keep the Safe Snack Guide up-to-date between product surveys. If you have not subscribed to our mailing list for updates and product advisories, we suggest you do so by completing the following form:
