Today, millions of Americans are losing their health insurance as federal healthcare assistance continues to shrink. Since June 2025, individual health plan enrollment has dropped by roughly 4.6 million people, largely driven by the expiration of enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that helped make coverage affordable for working families.
Meanwhile, provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—including Medicaid cuts and changes to ACA coverage—are projected to leave an additional 10 million people uninsured by 2034. Combined with the loss of enhanced subsidies, an estimated 14 million more Americans could be without coverage over the next decade.
The human cost of these numbers is immediate and devastating. Earlier today, we reported on a woman who was forced to cancel her health insurance because she could no longer afford it. When she subsequently suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction, an urgent care facility refused to administer epinephrine until she paid upfront, even as her throat was closing from anaphylaxis. Fortunately, her elderly father was there to cover the cost.
We at SnackSafely firmly believe that every American has a right to quality, affordable healthcare. Yet in the years since the pandemic, our country has moved backward, forcing far too many families to choose between basic necessities—food and housing—and their health.
Changing how American healthcare is structured and funded requires lawmakers committed to making it happen. And that change begins at the ballot box.
This Tuesday, November 3, we have an opportunity to make our voices heard. We urge you to choose legislators who treat access to affordable healthcare as an urgent, non-negotiable priority.
Vote like your life depends on it.
