Trusted by thousands of schools and tens of thousands of families nationwide
The Safe Snack Guide is a family of resources designed to help families, schools, and organizations find products (not just snacks!) that meet their allergen and gluten restrictions.
Our guides include more than 3,000 products from 200+ responsible manufacturers that provide SnackSafely with detailed allergen and gluten-processing information — including shared-line and shared-facility information you often won’t find on the product label or anywhere else.
The guides are updated regularly throughout the year as products are added and manufacturing practices change.
Choose Your Guide
We offer four standard editions for those whose dietary restrictions fall into neat categories and a Custom Edition you can tailor to any combination of the allergens we track (including gluten) to create a guide specifically for your family, classroom, school, organization, or event:
Why Use the Guide?
Food labels don’t tell the whole story. US labeling regulations require manufacturers to identify the nine major food allergens when they are ingredients in a product. But statements such as “May contain…” or “Manufactured in a facility that also processes…” are entirely voluntary. That means a label often may not tell you whether an allergen is processed on the same manufacturing line or elsewhere in the same facility.
The Guides are designed to provide information that goes far beyond what the FDA mandates be disclosed on the label.
Where Does Our Information Come From?
SnackSafely partners with over 200 responsible manufacturers that provide detailed allergen-processing information for their products via our proprietary platform. We collect and curate this information for use in the Safe Snack Guide and Allergence, our interactive product-screening service.
This includes information about allergens processed on shared manufacturing lines and elsewhere in the same facility — details that often do not appear on product packaging or the manufacturer’s site.
More Than Just Snacks
Despite the name, the Safe Snack Guide includes much more than traditional snack foods. Over 3,000 products are organized into 40+ categories, including:
- Bread, Bagels & Rolls
- Candy & Chocolate
- Chips & Pretzels
- Cookies
- Baking Mixes & Flour
- Frozen Desserts
- Frozen Foods

…and many more.
The Guide Is Interactive
Every product listing links directly to its corresponding Allergence page. There you can find additional information including product descriptions, images, retail availability, third-party certifications, and detailed allergen-processing information, making it easy to move from discovering a product in the Guide to investigating how it is manufactured.
For Schools, Classrooms and Organizations
The Safe Snack Guide isn’t just for families. Schools, preschools, camps, youth sports leagues, scouting groups, clubs, workplaces, parties, playdates, and other organizations use our guides when they need to accommodate people with food allergies, celiac disease, or other dietary restrictions.
Schools can link directly to the appropriate Safe Snack Guide from their websites or distribute the link to families as part of their allergen-management policies. Rather than asking parents to research products themselves, the Guide provides a regularly updated resource backed by allergen-processing information supplied directly by participating manufacturers.
