Update to Safe Snack Guide: June 12, 2014

-

We’ve made additions to the Safe Snack Guide just in time for end of school year classroom celebrations and to help with nut-free snack selections for camp.

New Products

We’ve added added/upgraded many products from two new members to our Manufacturer Partnership:

  • Utz Quality Foods – Though Utz products have been a staple of the Guide since its inception, the firm has joined us as a full-fledged member of our partnership.(See the press release.)

As a member, Utz now utilizes our platform to disclose how 11 allergens are processed during the manufacture of their products. In doing so, Utz takes a leadership role among traditional salty/savory snack manufacturers by embracing the needs of the allergic community and going far beyond the disclosures required on the label under FALCPA.

  • Tiger Nuts – Not nuts at all, but a peanut, tree nut and gluten-free snack derived from organically grown tubers, Tiger Nuts are a high-fiber, great tasting snack imported from Spain. You’ll find them in the Vegetable Chips category of the Guide.

New Snack Category

We’ve added “Pork Rinds” as a new snack category of the Guide to accommodate additional products.
