Add Your Household to the Teal Pumpkin Project Map

-

Halloween is an especially difficult time for kids coping with food allergies as many are unable to participate due to the risk of reactions that could prove severe, even life-threatening.

That’s where FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project comes in. Families are encouraged to add non-food trinkets to their trick-or-treat handouts and place a teal-colored pumpkin in front of their homes to indicate they are participating.

We at SnackSafely.com love the program for two reasons. First, it allows children with food allergies to fully participate in the holiday and enjoy their treats with no worries. Second, the display of teal pumpkins raises awareness of food allergies among those in the general public who may not fully realize the scope and impact of the disease.

OK, you’re convinced… but how to trick-or-treaters know how to find you? You can sign up to have your household listed on FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project Map where families can come to display a map of participants in their neighborhood.

Halloween should be inclusive with no child left out. Please consider participating and encourage others in your neighborhood to do likewise.
