Survey: Participate in Indiana University Study

-

If you are a parent of a child with food allergies, please consider participating in this study being conducted by Indiana University:

My name is Jennifer Bute, and I am an Associate Professor of Communication Studies at IUPUI and the parent of a 9-year-old with allergies to peanuts and tree nuts.

My colleague, Dr. Nicole Martins, Associate Professor at Indiana University, and I are conducting a study of how food allergy parents discuss media portrayals of food allergies with their children.

We are interested in how parents talk to food-allergic children about new stories about food allergies, especially news reports about fatal reactions and food allergy bullying, in order to understand how news coverage of food allergies might influence how parents and children understand and manage food allergies.

Although studies have examined the problematic ways that food allergies are depicted in entertainment media, we know little about how parents and children make sense of and talk about food allergy news stories.

If you are the parent of a child with food allergy, we’d love to hear from you. The survey will take approximately 40 minutes to complete. Please consider taking our survey by clicking here.
