This Weekend’s Allergence Upgrade Brings Changes to Profiles

Allergence Profile

Allergence – the interactive product screening service from SnackSafely.com – will be brought down for two hours this Friday evening, June 15 at 8PM EDT for a much needed upgrade. The service provides detailed processing information on 11 allergens for over 1000 products from 85+ participating manufacturers, including shared line and facility information not available anywhere else.

The upgrade promises a faster, more streamlined user experience and paves the way for new features to be introduced in the coming weeks.

Along with the upgrade comes a change in the way tolerance profiles are specified. Currently, users specify their tolerance for 11 allergens (the Top 8, sesame, mustard, and gluten) using the following scale (from least to most restrictive):

  • May be ingredient
  • May be processed in line
  • May be processed in facility
  • May not be processed in facility
  • May not be processed in facility and must be marketed as “free” of allergen

Responding to feedback from users, the last two options listed in red will be combined. Following the upgrade, the new, simplified scale will read as follows:

  • May be ingredient
  • May be processed in line
  • May be processed in facility
  • May not be processed in facility or must be marketed free of allergen

Users will still be able to determine precisely how each product is manufactured by referring to the product tables. Here is an example:
