Food Allergy, Preexisting Conditions, Congress and Jimmy Kimmel


As you no doubt know, changes to or repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are being debated in the Congress. Whether you support “Obama Care” or not, understand that food allergies constitute a preexisting condition.

Depending on how Congress acts, if you or your child suffers from food allergy, changes to the rules governing preexisting conditions that prevent insurers from charging you more may drastically affect your family’s access to healthcare including premium hikes, reimbursement limits, and denial of coverage.
