Made by Partake, Girl Scouts Introduces Its First Allergy-Friendly, Gluten-Free Cookie

-

Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) has announced an important expansion to its national lineup ahead of the 2027 cookie season: Girl Scout Sparkables™, the organization’s first-ever allergy-friendly cookie. Developed in partnership with allergy-conscious brand Partake, the new offering is designed to make one of America’s most cherished annual traditions accessible to families navigating food allergies, celiac disease, and other dietary restrictions.

According to GSUSA, the initiative was directly “inspired by Girl Scouts around the country who have advocated for expanding the cookie lineup to meet the diverse needs of their communities.” Rather than replacing existing favorites, Sparkables will join heritage staples such as Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites, and Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, taking a significant step toward a more inclusive Girl Scout Cookie lineup.

Crafted as a crunchy oatmeal cookie packed with chocolate chips and dotted with colorful sprinkles, Sparkables is formulated to bring “a new level of inclusivity to the Girl Scout Cookie portfolio.” The new cookie gives families who have traditionally been unable to participate in Girl Scout Cookie season due to food allergies or other dietary restrictions a new way to take part in the beloved annual tradition.

To ensure consumer safety, Sparkables is produced with Partake in a dedicated facility free of the Top 9 food allergens. Partake—a long-time member of the SnackSafely Manufacturer Partnership—formulates its products to be free of the Top 9 allergens (wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, crustacean shellfish, and sesame), as well as mustard and gluten. Sparkables is also certified gluten-free, further expanding the new cookie’s appeal to families managing celiac disease and other gluten-related dietary restrictions.

Partake brings deep expertise and a mission-driven background to the collaboration. Founded in 2016 by CEO Denise Woodard after her young daughter was diagnosed with multiple severe food allergies, the company was created with a focus on inclusivity so that children and adults with food allergies and dietary restrictions could participate more fully in school celebrations, playdates, family gatherings, and other occasions where food is shared.

Beyond food safety and inclusivity, the partnership aligns with the broader educational mission of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, which helps participating Girl Scouts build five core life skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. GSUSA emphasizes that proceeds from cookie purchases stay local, supporting troops and councils and helping fund experiences ranging from outdoor adventures and travel to community service, STEM exploration, and leadership development.

Girl Scout Sparkables™ will debut nationally on January 12, 2027, as the nationally recognized January-through-April Girl Scout Cookie season begins, though local season dates vary by region. The allergy-friendly cookies will be available exclusively online for direct shipping. Customers can sign up.
