Ready, Set, Food!, the allergist-developed system that gradually introduces infants to peanut, egg, and milk to significantly lower their risk of developing a food allergy, is advancing its mission of protecting families from food allergies through a partnership with End Allergies Together. End Allergies Together (E.A.T) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the food allergy epidemic by directly funding research to accelerate treatments and cures. In observance of Food Allergy Awareness Week (May 12-18, 2019), Ready, Set, Food! will donate a portion of sales from the week’s Spin the Wheel Campaign to support E.A.T.

The Growing Food Allergy Epidemic

May 12-18, 2019, marks the 21st annual Food Allergy Awareness Week. Food allergies are a growing epidemic: over 220 million individuals suffer from food allergies worldwide. This includes over 6 million American children under 18 — that’s 1 in 12 children, or an average of 2 in every classroom. And these allergies can often be life-threatening: a food allergy sends someone to the emergency room every two minutes. However, research studies aimed at finding treatments and cures for food allergies are severely underfunded.

End Allergies Together: Investing In An Allergy-Free Future

After realizing how little public or private funds were being directed towards fighting the food allergy epidemic, two families affected by food allergies started End Allergies Together with the sole goal of “advanc[ing] scientific and medical research to accelerate diagnostics, treatments, cures and prevention of food allergy” through investments in research studies.

“We’re honored to have Ready, Set, Food!’s generous support and contribution to help fund more important research in the fight against food allergies,” says Elise Bates, president and cofounder of E.A.T. “The new research on infant food allergy prevention is a breakthrough, and we’re excited to partner with an organization like Ready, Set, Food! that is also committed to providing more education and resources to empower families to make informed decisions about their health.”

E.A.T and Ready, Set, Food!: Fighting For Food Allergy Freedom

Ready, Set, Food!’s innovative allergen introduction system is grounded in the latest allergy prevention research.

Daniel Zakowski, CEO of Ready, Set, Food!, explains why partnering with E.A.T is a natural fit, “We’re proud to support E.A.T because we share the mission of ending the food allergy epidemic through landmark research. Recent clinical studies have shown that introducing infants to allergenic foods early and often can help reduce their food allergy risk by up to 80%. Ready, Set, Food!’s system utilizes the exact allergen amounts and frequencies used in these studies. E.A.T’s investments accelerate new, much-needed food allergy research that will bring even more families closer to a lifetime free from food allergies.”
