Em Lee, an Aussie mom and frequent flyer, has a message for airlines after suffering a reaction to nut residue in flight:
Having a life-threatening airborne allergy is like boarding a plane and enduring the whole flight with a person holding a loaded gun to your head. It is horrible. This also affects my children emotionally in a huge way. They were so traumatised thinking I would die on last night’s plane, despite me calmly reassuring them the whole time. They are terrified.
Ms Lee recently suffered a reaction to nut residue on a domestic flight in Australia. She took to Facebook to tell her story and make the case for airlines to make a simple change to their policies. She says it best in this video:
We at SnackSafely.com applaud Ms Lee for her efforts at raising awareness and call on airlines to carefully review and amend their allergen policies in order to protect their patrons with severe food allergies. No one should have to fear a reaction while flying.
